A test show is a very unique event where a designer sends dresses for the following year's collection to select retailers of their brand for brides to test the dresses and give feedback; these brides will be instrumental in shaping the new collection. On the other hand, during trunk shows, designers send the current collection of dresses that have already hit the runway.

What's the advantage?

Not every dress that is being tested will make the cut for the collection and can be removed from the collection at any time. This means that a bride will have to say yes to her dress that weekend in order to ensure she will be able to have the dress of her dreams. This also means that if a particular dress is cut from the collection, the bride who purchased it could be the only one (or one of few) to have that dress in the US, which is not something many brides can say.
